Default Frigidaire ice dispenser frost problem

    RepairClinic
    Model Number: FRS28ZRGW0
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: More than 10 years

The dispenser chute in my Frigidaire FRS28ZRGW0 frosts up regularly - even daily - between the door dispenser and the icemaker. It gets to the point that when I open the freezer door, frost falls out onto the floor.

I have found the parts diagram at Parts for Frigidaire FRS28ZRGW0: Ice Dispenser Parts

What should I look at to see what to fix?

    Thanks much!

    Hi,

See if the flapper door is closing/closing properly.

Jeff - Thank you for your help. I replaced the dispenser door flap (the old one was really bad - see photos below).

Next question: Now I notice that the flap closes, but it takes about a minute to close completely. Is this normal?

Yes, wax motor slowly cools to reclose, that should be fine.

Looks like it is working properly now. No frost buildup at all yet, and it was frosting up badly within 30 minutes to an hour.

    Thanks again for your advice.
