This has happened twice now. A few weeks back there was a sheet of ice in the bottom and the ice tray itself had a half inch of water in it with all the ice cubes frozen to it.

The first time this happened I pulled everything out and found that the small cup on the ice maker was plugged. It's the cup that receives the water from the hose coming into the freezer.

I just removed the ice maker, cleared the cup, re-installed it and everything was fine. Here we are two weeks later and there is another sheet of ice in the bottom of the freezer and no new ice cubes in the tray. This tells me the cup is plugged again.

Anyone ever heard of this happening? My guess is the feed hose is leaking slowly and ice is building up.

What say y'all?

THOUGHTS UPDATE:

Haven't had time time to get in there just yet but my theory is that the "Dual Inlet Water Valve" is leaking and causing the ice to build up on the inlet to the icemaker.

Hi qman, good to see you again!

Yes, you are correct, the water inlet valve is causing this.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model:

Let us know how it goes.

I was so sure of myself that I pre-emptively ordered the part. Thanks pal.

Replaced it and now the ice maker doesn't produce ice at all.

Make sure your ice maker fill tube is not clogged with ice, thus not allowing the water to fill the ice maker tray.

Its located in the back exterior wall of the refrigerator, here's a diagram of it below. Its behind the cover #16. The fill tube is #14.

Pull the fill tube out from the back and then you can see if its clogged much better, then from the front.
