Default MEDB835DW3 Brand new dryer, I plug the dryer in, nothing happens.

    Model Number: MEDB835DW3
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: Less than 1 year

Howdy, I've got a problem with my newly purchased Maytag. I picked up a Maytag Bravos from Lowe's. I have installed the plug via the instructions on page 11. This is an electric dryer, so no gas (thankfully). I have a four prong power cord. When I plug the dryer in, nothing happens. I know it has power running to the dryer as I shocked the crap out of myself when I bumped the neut ground wire and the white neut line that go it the middle. I've retraced my steps and installed the power cord twice and even purchased a new power cord. Still nothing, I've tripped the breaker myself and reset the breaker. Still cannot get any power to the dryer. I've already taken back a new LG for the same problem. I can plug the old (12 year old) Kenmore up to the same power cord and it turns on. Any ideas?

    Hi,

If you have a four prong dryer cord, then your neutral is separate from your ground. On a three wire system the neutral wire is connected to the ground wire.

Where you getting power on neutral or ground?

How did he ground it another way?

The directions said to screw both white wires together into the middle block. I did. My wife's dad hooked the smaller wire to the right screw that is attached to the black box. He grounded the smaller white wire to the dryer along with the green wire being grounded. Works like a champ now. Guess I had a brain fart and didn't think about it.

    Got it, thanks!

Here's a good video that shows how the wires should be hooked up, in case others run into this problem:
