630.16303406 Kenmore elite dishwasher, turns on, makes grinding sound but doesnt wash at all

Yesterday we went to run a load as usual, turned on the dishwasher and it was a little louder then usual. I was working in the kitchen and noticed a strong, almost burnt plastic smell?
After about 45 mins i opened the dishwasher, it seems like its trying to drain/grind, but there was no water in there at all and its obvious no water was run with that cycle. I turned it off and then on again it immidiately starts with the sound. Tried the breaker, left it off for awhile, also cancelled the drain cycle. But as soon as i turn it back on the sound starts right away.

The sound continues with the door opened or closed

I have also put water in the bottom on it and it all drains

Note: it does not have a dry button to attempt the hard reset.
I have included photos of the buttons i have. I do have a sound recording of the dishwasher running but i guess its not the right attachment to attach here.


Age is uncertain as the dishwasher came with the house we purchased.

Any help is sincerely appreciated!

Hi, This Kenmore 630 is made by Bosch, unfortunately I don't have any experience working on Bosch products.

Hopefully another tech or member that's seen this problem and fixed it can shed some light on this issue.

Other than that, you can contact Sears to come out at 1-800-469-4663 to come out to see what's going on.
