    Default Choosing a replacement washer

    Model Number: PAV2300AWW
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 6-10 years

Our reliable Maytag washer PAV2300AWW recently broke after 12 years of good service and we bought a Samsung top load HE washer. We gave it an honest try for 10 days but it didn't work out. In the absence of an impeller, clothes didn't move much and comforters kept floating. In a nutshell, clothes were not washing clean. Fortunately, we were able to return it.

The recent HE craze is requiring people to make too many compromises in washer effectiveness. All we want is a reliable machine that washes well and idoes not walk around.
I'm thinking of two options - either to buy new front loading washer/dryer set or to find one of the older large capacity workhorse models and get it rebuilt if necessary.

What makes and models would you recommend?

    Hi,

The best most reliable washer on the market today is Speed Queen: Speed Queen - Built Better to Last Longer And their top-loader fills all the way to the top with water, and has a old fashioned agitator. Like all the good ole ones in days of old.

Also the Whirlpool Duet front-loader is very good too, that's what I have.

Thank you. I'll check these out.
The new HE top loaders are so bad, they should be banned.

Yes, I agree, if you get a top loader I recommend Speed Queen, it fills the entire tub with water and has the agitator, not the washplate.
