When I push the Start button the red light next to the button blinks twice and the dishwasher doesn't start. The reason I think the problem has something to do with the latch is that the red light blinks the same way when I push the Start button while the door is open. Also, the green "cycle complete" light doesn't go out when I close the door after emptying the dishwasher after a cycle. The dishwasher starts and runs fine if I turn the power off and back on, until the next time when I have to do the same thing all over again.

Hi, Does the door latch at all? Or does the door handle feel loose or unsecured?

I'd first check to make sure the handle isn't cracked or broken, you have to access it from inside the console, take the inner door liner console screws out then the console should hinge out abit so you can see it closely.

Here's the black one for your model:

See the 2 support tabs on both sides of it? Its likely one is broken, I see that happen a lot.

If it is cracked or broken, then that would be the problem. Unfortunately, its No Longer Available.

I seems like the door latches OK, and the handle feels pretty much the same as it always has. I had the console out earlier to see if there was anything that was obvious to my untrained eye, and didn't see anything. I'll take it apart again and compare the handle to the photo you sent of the handle. Thanks.

Fixed! I opened up the console to take a close look at the handle assembly, and it looked OK, but I noticed that there are two microswitches operated by the handle assembly, one on each side. The white plastic plunger on one of the microswitches was stuck in. I freed it up and everything works fine now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Excellent, good job. (y)

If that door switch plunger keeps sticking, then you will need to replace that door switch.:)

Here's that door switch for your model:
