Default Mini display cooler wont cool

    Model Number: NSA36LACG
    Brand: LG
    Age: 1-5 years

Ok so I purchased this monster display cooler yesterday pretty cheap because they said it didnt work. I know a few fixes so I get it home and plug it in and sure enough it isnt cooling. These are the things Ive done and the results thus far:

    1. Switched out starter relay. Seemed to not click as often.
    2. Switched out thermostat. Compressor got really warm, outline warmed up but heard a click.
    3. Took off overload switch and direct wired to compressor. Compressor got hot 153* f, lines got hot 130*f,
Coil got cold and fridge cooled down to about 42*f

Thought all was good but then noticed compressor cooled right down and is not working at all and Im back to square one only now compressor is probably shot. Ive searsched online for parts but not sure how to go about it. The compressor number is NSA36LACG.

I know its probably not worth fixing to most people but I like it and want to try. Any ideas of what I did wrong or should do would be great. Also wondering, if I got a different compressor from a working unit, how hard would it be to switch out? I dont have any havoc tools, What would be my best option here, minus throwing it away

Asked and answered. The compressor sounds like it was shot before you direct wired it so you just made sure. Compressor replacement requires special tools and equipment, a working knowledge of how refrigeration systems work, and special skills like brazing. You also need to be certified by the EPA to work with refrigerants.
