Default Lennox furnace filter for 80UHG series - where is it?

    Model Number: 80UHG
    Brand: -major brand-
    Age: More than 10 years

I'm trying to locate the air filter for both my furnaces up in my attic. Both are the same brand and model. One is for the upstairs and the other for the downstairs. Both are mounted horizontally in the crawl space with air ducts attached to the top and sides. Do i have to take off the access panel to get to the filter?

I've looked at the user manual and do not see air filters in the locations that they are indicating with bottom or side return air.

    Any ideas?

Ok I took off the access panel and did not see a furnace filter. Only the air ducts. So I'm assuming the air filters they are referring to are the ones that are in the accessible in the hallway ceiling.

Yes, they should be located behind the return air duct, if the filter is not in your furnace itself.

My return air duct is in my hallway too, but on the floor. My supply air comes through the ceiling ducts.
