    Default Fivestar has oven issues

First post...Having issues with a Fivestar four burner gas oven/range. Basic problem is: When oven is plugged in, oven light comes on (even when oven dial not turned on), indicating the oven is heating but it is not. When the problem was first noticed, the oven burner was coming on and remaining on (almost as if it was stuck) but now it is not. Currently, when plugged in, the glow bar is glowing. Gas is getting to the unit as the stovetop burners will ignite manually but cannot use oven/broiler.

Made a general service call and after ten minutes given a $700 quote to replace thermostat and safety valve. Iíve replaced the glow bar before but thinking that isnít the issue. Iíd appreciate the boardís thoughts and suggestions. The knowledge base here is amazing.

Thermostat sounds right. I don't know about an oven safety valve. I've never heard of a "Fivestar" before. Is it commercial?

I believe FiveStar makes commercial models but this is a home model (TTN281-7BW, FiveStar 30", Multi-Tasker). I had never owned one but it was in the kitchen and came with the house and is a nice unit. The guy that came out called it a gas oven safety valve. I am certain I can replace the thermostat fairly easily and much less painfully than the $600 I was quoted.
So a faulty thermostat could create a situation where the "oven on light" would be on, the oven was not heating(no flame), and the glowbar/igniter was glowing and yet not igniting? I'm guessing it is sort of a first steps and then assess sort of thing. Correct?

Without any knowledge of the brand and model I can only give you general information. It could be the thermostat or maybe a control board if there is one.
