Default NX58H9950WS Samsung oven wont hold temp

    Model Number: NX58H9950WS
    Brand: Samsung
    Age: 1-5 years

Recently temps is dropping after reaching desired temp. For example set oven for 400, reaches 400 then basically shuts heat off while reading 400. Within 5-10 mins oven drops 200 degrees and does not click back up to get back up to 400. Temperature used to go up by 4s and now goes up one degree at a time.

I checked the temp sensor that is in the oven and its reading about 1000 ohms. Im not very electronically savvy but i checked ohms on other wired items and came across this that registered 0 ohms and have no idea what it is....any insight

    Hi Scott,

When you first start the oven time how it takes for the gas to fire.

It should take about 45 seconds and no longer than 60 seconds to light the gas.

What happens is when you turn it on bake the igniter should draw 3.2-3.6 amps to properly open the safety valve to let the gas come out.

If you'd like to check it, use an Clamp style Amp Probe around one of the igniter wires. You're looking for 3.2 to 3.6 amps.

Harbor Freight and Sears sells them, Like this one here: Clamp Amp Meter

If the Amps are lower than 3.3 amps when its ON and GLOWING, then your oven igniter is weak and will need to be replaced.

Here's the oven igniter for your model:
