• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hi,
I have a Kenmore elite microwave convection oven. It’s making a humming noise when the door is closed. When I open the door the noise Stops and the light remains on. It is heating ok.

Can you please suggest the parts that will need to replaced and does it make sense to repair or replace the microwave.

Attaching video and a pic of the model number

Rick has been out sick since Jan.12th with a serious illness, we are hoping and praying for a speedy recovery! He is very good with microwaves and I am not unfortunately.

But you can go here and they can possibly assist you:

Based on other threads with similar issues it looks like the board needs to be replaced. The site above does not have the board available ( discontinued). Is there any other way to repair or is the appliance dead?

Not that I'm aware of. You probably end up going microwave shopping.
