We have a Kenmore range with a burned out wire at the control panel. The heat melted the crimp connector into the plastic holder for the five wires that connect the wire harness to the panel. Only the oven wire melted, the rest are fine. We replaced the panel but can’t find a replacement for the wire harness. If we connect the wire without the plastic piece that holds all five wires, do we need to cover the connections with something? Like a shrink wrap insulator?

1. Be sure to make note of the color wire sequence in the harness connector so they can be connected to the correct terminals and in case of future service.

2. Yes, the terminals should be insulated from one another. I think heat shrink tubing would suffice.

3. If you really wanted to replace the whole harness, I think the one for your model in # 316580219. I didn't look to see if anyone had current stock of it.
