We have a Kenmore 790.9656 range that we purchased in October 2007. It has a triple right-front element. The other day I was trying to use the double element mode but accidentally didn't click it into HI. The pot heated up somewhat and then stopped. Since then, the middle part of the element won't heat up at all. My guess is that it was sending too much power to just the middle part of the element and fried it. I think this (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=1265&N=1196947) is the part I need, but I want to make sure. Also I'd like to know how to open it to get to the element. Also should I consider replacing the switch if that's what caused the problem?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Please double check your model#, there should be 4 more numbers after the "6" at the end of your model#. Just to make sure thats the correct part for your range.

The model# tag should be located on the bottom front frame after you pull out your storage drawer.

Thanks,

Yes, thats the correct triple right-front element for your model.

To change it:
Look under the front lip of your glasstop, you should see between 2-4 screws. Just remove the screws, then the whole glasstop lifts up. You may need someone to help you hold it up while you remove the front support bracket#26 here:

Once you have that bracket removed from the glasstop, you can change the right-front element.

Unplug or turn the breaker off to your range first!
