OK so our Kenmore refrigerator quit cooling all of a sudden.

after checking everything I found that it quits working ONLY when the freezer door is closed.
If I open the freezer door the fans come on and it blows cold air. I used a magnet to trip the
door light with the freezer door open and the fans quit blowing. I removed the magnet and
the lights came on and then shortly the fan started blowing.

I disabled the magnet on the door by disconnecting the wires and then had to remove the piezo
cap to stop the chiming.

any ideas WHY this is happening?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's very odd, never seen that happen before. Hopefully another tech. or member that's seen and fixed this problem can shed some light on it for us.

It's one to the big ole refrigerator graveyard. did find out our kenmore was actually an LG unit made around the tie of the big LG compressor debacle.
