Was wondering if anyone knows if the thermostat included in the 12002754 kit as a fan control thermostat (67005902) has the same specs as the defrost thermostat WP67003426 (Spec: L42-30f) ? (This is for a ABR2527FES refrig)
The background is, I had warm refrig and ice on exchanger so wanted to replace the defrost thermostat, thermistor , and control board to be safe. The description of the kit on most part sites says it includes a "Defrost Thermostat". And mine arrived with no directions, so I installed all the components and the stat as a defrost thermostat. Then, later thinking about it, I thought it was odd they included spade connectors when it needed to be wired in directly. I then found the instruction sheet here
https://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/attachments/maytag-bm-frost-kit-repair-pdf.3057) - and in those directions - they say to use the thermostat as an additional thermostat to control the fan instead. Also, it lists the thermostat as a diffferent part number, 67005902, which no parts distributor seems to have a spec on and of course Whirlpool has no idea and I can't get into service/tech suppoort. So now I don't know if I have potentially installed a thermostat with a different open/close temp or not. I'd assume the spec would be the same to control the fan at the same temps as for the defrost heater thermostat , but wanted to verify, because of the different part numbers.
Also, not understanding why the instructions say to put into timed instead of adaptive defrost. My only thought was this kit was originally for some very specific frost issues and not for other component failures, since it also mentioned using RTV to seal corners of the cabinet. Never had any issue like that, just that defrost stopped working.
Thanks,
Mike
