Admiral A/C Compressor Always On

Just through a used Admiral A/C in the window last night. As soon as I plugged it in I could here the compressor turn on. For a second I thought the AC was left on from last year but then I looked up and noticed none of the display panel lights were on. I turned the power on and there is good cold air coming out of the unit and the display panel seems work properly, but even when the unit should be powered off the compressor is very loud. Too loud to leave plugged in when the AC isn't in use and I expect the noise.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Whats the model# of your window A/C?

Its possible your switch or control board relay is stuck in the 'ON' position.
