Oven fills with gas when opened makes a loud whoosh noise and lights the gas causing flames. We had a bad ignitor before so we just changed that tonight. Tryed turning it on and it does the same thing. Please help!

Hi,

So you replaced the oven bake ignitor #14 here:

Is this the same part number as you replaced:
WP7432P136-60 Igntr-Oven

Also check your burner port holes, if they are clogged up or semi-clogged up it will cause this issue as well. Especially the burner port holes where the ignitor mounts to the burner tube.

Use a wire brush to clean those burner port holes.

That is what we replaced. Figured that was the problem since it went out about 3 years ago. So you think the cleaning will work?

Yes, because if the burner tube port holes are clogged/semi-clogged the igniter can't lite the gas properly for the burner.

If the port holes are clear and it still does the same thing, then you either got a defective bake igniter or your safety valve is shot.

When you first turn the oven on how long does it take to lite the gas? You can open the oven door and watch the orange glow from the bake igniter and time it from oven start to oven flame, it should take no longer than 60 seconds. It should be closer to 45 seconds.

Ok, then like I said above:
