This is an Amana Washing machine Model ALW480DAW. It stops right at Rinse in the Normal Wash Cycle. If we push the knob in and rotate it just past Rinse, it will continue and complete the washing cycle.
Picked up a used Timer Assembly 40073801 and installed it this afternoon. Same exact issue. I don't hear water entering into the washing machine when it sits at Rinse. It fills fine at the beginning of the wash cycle though.
Is there a float or water sensor that allows it continue the cycle or did i get a 2nd bad Timer Assembly?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

I don't hear water entering into the washing machine when it sits at Rinse.
That usually indicates the COLD water side of the water inlet valve is bad, do you hear the water inlet valve making a buzzing sound at Rinse? But no water coming in?

Here's the water inlet valve for your model, but its no longer available:

Thanks for the reply Jake.
Yes I did hear a slight buzzing sound.
I had my girlfriend switch the water temp selector knob from Warm/Cold to Warm/Warm and now it fills at the Rinse cycle and completes the entire cycle.
Would another Cold Water valve work in it's place if the original isn't available?

That is possible, but I don't have a cross reference list to compare it to.

If you take the original water inlet valve to your local appliance parts store in your area, they might be able to match it up for you.

After installing an aftermarket valve kit and it not working, i looked in the back of the old valve and it was filled with dirt and sand! What a run around this turned out to be. In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread, all i had to do was clean all the sand out of the back of the cold water connection and we were back in business. She is on well water and does have a whole house sediment filter that was jam packed a few months ago. I cleaned it out and replaced the filter but evidently there was some carry over that clogged the cold water inlet on the washing machine.

Good find Mark.(y)

Sorry about that, I forgot to mention to check the water inlet valve filter screen for sediment or sand, my bad, it just slipped my mind completely.

Jake,
That wasn't meant to sound like a dig. I should have thought about the issue with the filter but chased a rabbit instead.
It's all good and I learned a couple things in the process!
Thanks for all your help here.
