The fridge was purchased in October 2014. For the last several months it has been making ice on an off. The cubes are not hollow but smaller than normal. Any ideas. The water does seem to come out slow but has always done that. Ideas?

Hi,

Have you replaced your water filter in awhile? If not, that will make the water come out slower and thus make the ice maker slow down too and make ice cubes intermittently.

Here's the water filter for your model:

Yes. The water filter was recently replaced with a genuine part. I have removed the filter to see if the water would come out faster and to see if it would make ice. The water doesn't come out any quicker with the filter removed and it only has made a few cubes since yesterday and they still appear very small.

Ok,

Now Pull your refrigerator out away from the wall, turn off your water supply line that goes to it, then take off your water supply line from the water inlet valve, then get a bucket, cup, bowl, etc to catch the water, then put your water supply line in the bucket and turn it on, your water stream should be really good with good strong water pressure, if not then the problem is in your plumbing water supply line.

Let us know how the water pressure is.

A very LARGE problem in the last few years has been the self piercing shut off valve clogging up with calcium and junk! Replace the self piercing shut off valve with a drill type shut off valve. You drill a 1/4" hole into the pipe and install the shut off valve the same way you would with a self piercing valve.

If your water supply pressure is fine, then its your water inlet valve thats bad and this problem.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model:
