So I've been working on my son's unit with a no ice complaint. FYI - this is the french door with bottom freezer/ice maker into a bin; not through the door. First time we pulled ice maker assembly and found a light blockage of ice in the fill tube. Cleaned out and it worked for a few months. Now I'm back and this time the ice blockage is very severe. I checked the power for the fill tube/heater and I had 12 volts. Resistance of heater DA47-00192E was 76 ohms measured; tag indicates it is 72 ohms.
So my questions are:
  1. I have power to the heater and resistance, so how is the tube freezing? The ice blockage wants me to just replace the tube, but the data suggests that it is OK.
  2. I've seen on some YouTube forums that there are 2 sensors in the ice maker assembly, an ejector sensor and a hall effect sensor. Can anyone explain what these do so that I can definitely rule out this assembly?
One other thing I plan to do is to disconnect water line on rear of unit (at fill tube) and make sure that water dispenses from the line when cycling the ice maker.

He has raised the temp setpoint of freezer and the water filter was changed a few months back.

I would welcome any other suggestions from the group!

Yes Dave, that does not make sense to me either, I've not run into this problem before. Hopefully another tech. or member that's seen and fixed this problem can shed some light on it for us.

That I've never heard of before.

Jake - here's the video I referenced that the creator mentioned 2 sensors; starting at 5 min mark:
I did post a question to his video as well.

Good video!

Yes, I know one of the sensors is the thermistor, it tells the ice maker the ice cubes are frozen and its time cycle the ice out and refill. I've heard of a hall sensor on a ice maker though. So I don't know the answer to that one.

Here's the ice maker for your model:

But the ice maker fill tube shouldn't be freezing up since the heater is working on it, that's what I'm puzzled about as well.
