we own a blomberg washer and dryer (WM98400SX and DHP24412W). they are a little over 3 years old.
recently the dryer started making a loud intermittent noise during its dry cycle.
The noise is not continuous, it will start and last 30 to 60 sec or more. When it first started the noise
would come and go, some dry cycles would complete without the noise, some with the noise,
there was not discernible pattern. but right now we're at the point where basically every dry cycle
we run has the noise. The noise is like a loud buzzing or grinding kind of sound (see attached audio).
the dryer still functions, it will dry clothes, but the noise is unbearable.
It seems to be coming from the back of the dryer where the drain hose exits the machine.
trying to get a repair tech during the pandemic has been difficult, hoping someone can help me
diagnose this issue, so I can stop wasting my time on hold with customer support people.

Here's the problem, they're not a popular brand. Arcelik is the parent company of Beko appliances, the second largest appliance company in Europe. The German based company acquired Blomberg in 2002 then rebranded Beko appliances to Blomberg and added a better warranty. They're sold by independent retailers like AJ Madison here in the USA. We can't find any service information or any parts manuals for Blomberg appliances. I've never seen a Blomberg appliance. We had the same problem with Bosch when they were first introduced to the USA in 1991. There's still a problem getting some service information but many parts houses sell Bosch parts now. Sorry I wasn't much help.

Hi, Hope you still monitor this thread because we have the exact same problem with our Blomberg dryer. Thinking the noise may be from water pump? What did you find out?
Thanks for any info anyone!

I have the Blomberg washer dryer about the same vintage, same model number.
The dryer started making a noise also, not as bad as the recording.
I fixed it by spraying the lint screens with warm water and letting them dry. This was mentioned in the user manual.
The screens had a build up of very fine dust and I think it was affecting the air flow.

I was ready to order the water pump before I tried this. Some Blomberg parts are available at encompass.com.

so I’ve got the same problem same [dryer], and I listen to your audio and mine is making the exact same sound. Basically sounds like a seal with a sore throat. I was able to get behind my dryer and it sounds as though it’s coming from the water drain pump on the back lower right- Haven’t gotten into it yet but that seems to be where the noise is isolated.

Cleaning the screens only worked for a little while. The noise was getting to me.
I ordered the condenser pump from encompass.com. Part number 2962510500.
I took some photos of the repair process. It took me about two hours

Hello @earle - did replacing the Condenser pump fix the noise?

I have the exact same dryer - purchased in 2016. I had this dryer noise issue in early 2020 - and we had a Blomberg 'recommended' local repair shop guy come out and replace the "drain pump" (as he called it). He claimed that the noise was gone and we seemed to agree (lol!) - although I wasn't fully convinced. Now it's back loud and clear and sounds very much like the OP's recording. And this time I'm going to do it myself - I was just about to order that condenser pump part. Then I found this forum and your pictures - great work there!

Yes. Replacing the pump did fix the noise and I love my dryer again.

@earle Thanks! I wouldn't have tried fixing this myself without the pictures you took. But I just replaced my pump and it was super easy and the dryer seems to be fixed.
