• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hello Appliance Blog-

I'm back again with a different issue after you all helped me solve my oven woes so wonderfully a few months ago. Now my in wall microwave doesn't want to pop the door open every time and you have to close it pretty hard to get it to realize the door is closed. When it does this the button you press to open the door feels very squishy like its not doing anything. I dont believe this to be an electronic issue since it does detect the door being closed but more of a door latch thing. Any tips on where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks,
Brian

You might be able to see what the problem is by removing the control panel. Check the three parts I marked with arrows. The two red arrows are the parts that open the door.

Hello Rick, I have the same problem
How can I open the control panel to access the door switch. I don't want to open the entire microwave as it is wedged in the wall, and is a longer and harder process to get the microwave off the wall frame. What would you suggest? Thanks so much!

Our HMB5050/01 just had the door begin malfunctioning last night. It's in wall above the oven - how do I remove the outside trim around the microwave so I can see the top of the control panel and the screws referenced above? Thanks.

You might need to take it out of its installation. Take a few pics and post them here.

Attached are a couple photos I took of the front. The microwave trim is attached on the sides somehow - I can flex the top and bottom away from the surrounding wood frame. There may be some sort of pressure clips or something on the sides but I've been reluctant to really pull hard on it for fear of breaking or damaging the trim. Any thoughts?

OK, those trim kits are manufacturer specific. I don't have any information on trim kits. You'll probably need to call Bosch.

I am going through the same door issue (microwave light won't turn OFF when door is closed/microwave won't start as it does not detect the door being closed).

I also have the same exact trim you show on your pictures and it is easy to pop it out, it is held by 4 clips, just pull gently and it will come out.

I have been able to fix (temporarily) the door contact issue by bending the metal plate that holds the closing mechanism mentioned on the very first response. This allows for the latch of the door to push against the other parts and activate the door switch... Unfortunately, i have to bend back the part every few weeks as the issue keeps coming back.

Can anyone come up with a more permanent solution to this bending solution? I can post more pictures if it will help.

Thanks
