Had a new dishwasher installed today. In trying to get the remains of the plastic off, I noticed the control panel is not properly sitting on the machine. Anyone know if this is an easy fix that I could do? Looks like the gasket wasn't properly seated when they tightened all the screws across the top. Should I just call KitchenAid?

Yes, looks like possibly shipping damage, or it wasn't set properly at the factory. Contact KitchenAid to come out at 800-422-1230 to fix it for free under warranty.

I called Kitchen Aid...they were very nice and their repair will be here in 2 days. So far so good. By the way, the more I examine that area where the control panel is not fitting on, the whole door is slightly warped, rubs against the machine when closing and the panel itself is a bit warped. I am hoping they can remove some screws, reset the gasket and everything will pop in. Or should I demand a new door and if that is required, should I ask for a new machine?

Let them see first what they can do and what they say.

You can also ask for a new dishwasher, since it was just delivered damaged like that.

So for this repair, I could have gone through KitchenAid, but they use a company called Dan Marc and I have not heard good things about them. I decided to use my PC Richard warranty. They came out and took the door apart and found that the control panel has a clip that had not fully engaged on that side. They snapped it in, put the door back together and it looks much better. Still not 100% flush, but the other side is like that too and I guess that's how they are. The door does rub a bit on the right side when closing and I asked the repair guys to take a look. They said it was probably not leveled by the install team and I would need to get an install team out to take the machine out and level it. The guys that installed it did level it, I watched them. Should I have another set of installers come back out, or is this normal for a dishwasher to rub slightly? The door sill closes adequately.

UPDATE: I just pushed the door to the left with a little force...the whole dishwasher moved slightly. Whatever I did, the door closes perfectly now.
