Thermador 272 double wall oven. Trying to replace temp sensor. Factory manual shows you pull out the wire and cut/splice it. In reality, I can't pull it out more than about 2-3 inches. Has anybody done this? Any way to remove the oven interior to get to it? Or do I need to take the whole oven out and work from behind?

It might just be a large connector on the wiring stopping it. Sometimes its possible to fiddle with the wiring to manipulate the connector to go through the hole. It not...

No. If you can't get it into the oven, you'll have to go in from the rear which usually requires removing the whole oven from the cabinet.

Depending on the oven and instillation, something like this might be possible to avoid total removal.

Thanks Dan. I've pulled it out before, it's not fun.
What if I remove the convection motor from the rear wall of the interior? Could I then possibly stick my hand through the hole and reach up to play with the sensor wire from the back?

In my experience almost every Thermador, Wolf and even my own Bosch has the leads either wrapped around another harness or it is ty-wrapped to one. I think they do it on purpose.

Ok, I tried and there are in fact a fair number of wires accessible behind the convection motor but no access to any connectors so not of much use. And no access to the temp sensor. So I had to pull the oven out and take off the back cover.
Turns out the service manual was not wrong. It was a quality control issue. The sensor wire couldn't be pulled out from the front because during assembly the wires had been negligently left hanging in a way that they got pinched when the back cover was tightened. The wire insulation was very, very flattened.
Very disappointing from a high end manufacturer.
And no, Paul, in this case the sensor leads were not attached to anything else or wrapped around anything all the way from the lower oven to the top of the unit. About 3 feet.

That's unfortunate. Thanks for the followup.
