I posted this thread in the wrong place previously and I don't know how to fix it. Could a mod delete the post I placed under dishwashers?

Hi all and Thank You for having me. I have a problem with my daughters Whirlpool Dryer model #CEM2743BQ0. It is a coin operated commercial dryer, being used at her motel, located in the wonderfully warm resort city of Aledo IL. :nightmare: Actually it's not wonderful, warm or a resort city of any kind. It's February in IL. IT"S COLD !, but that's where we are.
Here is my situation. Brought the dryer home to my garage. It is hooked up to 220V (verified). Dryer will run fine. Push the button, drum rolls, blower blows, it just won't heat up. What I have done so far. Checked all thermostats, fuses, Bypassed all thermostats and fuses. Hooked them back up again as it did not help. Measuring voltage at the heating element, I have 125 V from one leg to ground, and 125 V from the other leg to ground. Measure across the 2 legs on the element, I get nothing. Resistance across the element reads 10 ohms. I took a cord and applied 110V to the element completely separate from the dryer. Simply plugged into the wall. The element heats up. This is where my head scratching begins.😵‍💫

I would appreciate any help you can offer on this. Thanks Greg

I forgot to add, my son in law took a stab at repairing this dryer before I got to it. He said the heat selector switch was bad, so he replaced it with a 2 pole, double throw, toggle switch. I never saw the original switch, so I have no idea if he did it correctly or not. He said it was heating at one time. I am starting to seriously doubt that.

I would love to see a wiring schematic of this dryer.

Is the voltage applied to the heating element always 220V, and turned on and off intermittently by the thermostat?

Thanks Greg

Thanks, I deleted it.

That's the problem, you should get 240 volts.

Here's the wiring diagram for your model:

Thank You so much! That really helped. Should the heating element ever get REALLY BRIGHT GLOWING RED?

The dryer is working again. With the toggle switch, it only has 2 heat settings, "High" and "Medium", but it's not like she washes a lot of delicates at the motel anyway.

THANK YOU ! again Jake. Greg

BTW Here's $10 to help further the cause. It's not much, but it might help a little.

No, it should be a dim red, meaning the good air flow is going through the heater housing per the blower wheel. If the heater was bright red you may have not of assembled the dryer back together yet, the dryer needs to be assembled to have proper air flow through it, then it should be a dim red.
