I have a Crosley upright freezer about 5 years old. The evaporator fan motor went out and I replaced it with a new one. The new one worked for about 2 minutes and then sparked and shorted out. There is no visible damage to any wires. What could cause this and what needs to be done to prevent it from happening again?
Thank you,
LC

The fan motor appears to be nothing special...it is regular voltage and not a d/c voltage fan motor.
I can't see anything that would damage the motor, possible it was just a bad one!?

I'd be inclined to send back that motor and get another to try.
