I have a Maytag MHW5500FC0 front loading washer and am trying to figure the best way to access the drain pump and filter. I've seen three different videos.
One had the guy taking off the top panel, the control panel, and a bunch of other stuff, so screw that!
The next had the guy removing the back panel. Ok, that'll be some work getting the machine away from the wall in my extremely tight laundry "room"
The third had a guy tipping the machine backwards and accessing the pump assembly from the bottom.

Which is best? If tipping backwards to access from below, will gravity work against me in allowing all the trapped water out? If not, then this would definitely be the easiest access. If it would not drain fully this way, then that would lead me to having to access from the back of the machine.

Thank you in advance for any insights.

Hi, on this model you have to access it from the back. Unplug your washer first.

Here's the drain pump for your model:
Drain Pump WPW10605427

Here's the video to access it:
Your Maytag is identical to the Whirlpool washer. Whirlpool owns Maytag.

Once you access it, you will see the filter cap handle that you can unscrew off and remove the drain pump filter to clean it.

The filter cap handle is in the front of it, so you will need to reach your hand to very front of it and grab the handle and it unscrews off counterclockwise

Let us know how it goes.

HI Jake;

Dang! I was really hoping you'd say "sure, get it from underneath, you don't need to go in from the back!" My laundry area is SO tight - I'm going to have to slide the dryer out completely, which might even entail removing my laundry sink. Yup, it's that tight! Plus, both machines are on pedestals. Ugh!
Thanks very much for the video and the feedback. Much appreciated.
