Hello everyone, first post here. I've read a ton of old threads but could not fix my problem. I have a Maytag LSG7806AAE stacked washer and dryer which everyone tells me is a great unit. In the last year or so I've been having multiple issues with the dryer. The first issue, was that on the "intelligent" dry, The unit would run continuously no matter what. It seems that if I set the auto dry to "normal or less" it will work normally, but anything above normal and it just stays running. Here his what I have done in the last few months, like a dummy I just started throwing new parts at the unit but none of it has fixed the problem:
Completely removed all vents and cleaned out lint, which was a huge task.
Brand new coils
Brand new tiner
Brand new cycling thermostat
Brand new moisture sensor control board

I had the moisture sensor removed and took it to a local washer repair company, and they told me that the sensor still functions. One of the metal sensor bars popped out but I glued it back in and it seems to be holding. I would replace the sensor but there hasn't been one available for years according to the appliance repair place.

The dryer does seem to function normally on the timed dry, but I normally need about an hour and a half to fully dry the clothes. Before this issue, the clothes dried perfectly on the "more" setting.

What are the chances I received a bad cycling thermostat? From reading some forums, that seems to be the most common culprit, Even though I already changed it.

The moisture sensor seems to be the problem.

To test the sensor bars with a meter, set the meter to the lowest resistance scale(RX1) and set one meter probe on one metal bar and one on the other metal bar, you should read an "open" circuit. Place a wet article or a metal object ( a quarter works good) across the metal bars and the circuit should change to a "closed" circuit. Try cleaning the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol, that usually solves any sensor bars issues.

That's what I initially thought, And I should have mentioned, but I did clean it with alcohol a few times. I have not tested it with a multimeter yet, but I believe the shop did and she said it's working. It just seems weird that it works fine on the normal setting. Thank you.
