• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

I received all my Ge café white appliances after ordering them a year ago. I question if the over the range microwave has been refurbished and sent to me. 1st warning sign was there were no documents in the box. no manual no mounting templates nothing. i thought maybe it was a packing mistake, although all the tape protective film and Styrofoam were in place. The thing that has me scratching my head is the plug instead of being a sealed one piece plug like all my over the range microwaves in the past This one looks modified with the typical yelllow plug that you would buy at a hardware store which obviously by the photo doesn't work in my current outlet that has had 2 previous over the range microwaves installed and plugged in there before. Can some one confirm that Ge is actually using this style receptacles or did some one before me cut the end off to make it fit their style outlet?

Hi,

Without see it myself I couldn't tell you if it was used or not.....but:

Both tell me that this unit was out of the box and repacked at some point. That is not a power cord end that you would find on an brand new unit.

JMO!!
