detergent isn't dissolving

I have a DU945 bought a year ago. When we try to fill the soap dispensers with the gel detergent, the gel just falls to the bottom of the dishwasher and stays there. It doesn't dissolve or do anything. It just sits in a glob at the bottom of the dishwasher. Everything seems to be in working order. The detergent door on the fill cup works. I'm not sure what our water hardness level is, so I don't know if that has something to do with it. Would a power detergent work better? I'm at a loss on what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure your water temperature going into the dishwasher is at least 130 degrees, and run the hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher. I use powder in mine, and it works great. You can try powder if you like. But hot water is the key.
