DRS246RBW Amana Fridge not cold with new thermostat

Took the bottom panel of freezer off to check air intake. It gets air from inside bottom of fridge. So could have pulled bins out and looked. Clean make up air coming from inside fridge. I I though if it pulled from outside of fridge may have sucked up dog hair.

Left it off a all day. Big puddle. Coil now clear. Can feel air moving into fridge. Not as much as I thought, but then again I never actually felt it before.

I used to be bad for leaving door open. After trouble shooting, and worried about lifespan, I am a lot quicker to close. Ha. Started up. See what happens.

Thanks guys,

I put in an after market defrost timer that is programmable.
Then try 8 hours first, if that doesn't work, try 12 hours.

Sounds like your making progress.:)

I am surprised there is not more forced air from freezer to fridge. But I guess it works. I have wifi thermoters in fridge and freezer, like people use outside. Freeezer is dropping fast, down to 26 degrees. But fridges is going slow. But I have also read you need to give it along time. Exterme case now. But something to watch if you are using a fridge that isn't always used. And putting food in it. I do this at my cabin.

What do you expect for freezer temp? When I google it, it comes up zero. But I got 10 with new thermostat and then 12-14. 10 seemed to keep it cold enough in fridge but 12 didn't.

Also curious if placement of thermocouple makes a difference. I moved it to top, thinking warmer but that did not seem to help.

My chest freezer is -10, but I am thinking that is the difference between a fridge freezer and a freezer.

37 degrees in fridge. My gf is going to mad. She has had enough of this.

Both fridge and freezer in 40s this morning. Tapped on t-stat and started. I left the second one I bought in place. But that one was not as cold. Despite being the wrong t-stat, still not working correctly.

In a short time the second t-stat I bought that was not as cold last month is 8 degrees and 36 in fridge. Part of it may be cheap amazon parts. The appeal of amazaon is not price, as I can have it right away and they make shopping easy. Price doesn't hurt.

Air is moving fast into fridge. Bette than last night. I wonder if some is attrributed to just natural convection and air circulating. Hits a certain temp and the cold drops, sucked back in blows back up, drops. But you can really feel it now.

That is correct, normal would be 0 degrees F.

I know but, is it worth the frustration? Rather than retiring this refrigerator and buying a new one?

That's puzzling to me as well.

I realize I need a new fridge.

Freezer with other thermostat is 16 in freezer and 36 in fridge. The 3 thermostats I tried none took it to zero. All in the teens. I tried various placements

Why are the new fridges so big? I only got one 36" door. Wonder if I'll need to take screen door off or the inside door to get 36x34" fridge in.
