My dryer makes a whistling noise whenever the heat turns on. I can tell it’s the heat because if I open the door while it’s running the noise immediately stops. I close the door and restart dryer, the noise does not start until after several moments when the dryer starts to heat up again.

Hi,

AGQ8000FS0

Gas dryer.
Running on LP?
Running on natural gas?
Gas pressure to the dryer has been checked?

Can't think of much/anything that might make a noise when the heat is on other than the gas safety valve...

LP?
runs on natural gas. how do you
check the gas pressure?
no experience working with gas lines and valves etc and am a bit hesitant to work on them.
wow$$$$
might need to call a repair person for this one.

Liquid Propane.

how do you
check the gas pressure?

Check Inlet Gas Pressure Using a Manometer. Most people will not have this, local gas company will.
The inlet gas pressure for the natural gas should lie between 5 to 10 W.C. While it should lie between 8 to 13.5 W.C for the liquid propane gas.

no experience working with gas lines and valves etc and am a bit hesitant to work on them.

Then you idea to have someone come in is a good idea (y)

Yup :(
