This dryer has performed like a champion for the past five years until last week the Mrs. opened the dryer while it was running to check an article of clothing.

When she went to restart the cycle, the unit will come on with no errors but when you hit the Start button you can hear it sound like it wants to start (clicks) but then nothing, the tumbler doesnt start at all.

We have checked the breaker at the panel, unplugged the unit and nothing, it still does the same thing.

Help!

Did you check your thermal fuse for continuity?

Unplug or turn off the breaker to your dryer before opening it up.

Your thermal fuse is located on the blower wheel housing#59 here:

You would need to take off the lower front access panel under your door, then take off the duct assembly#45.

You would ohm the thermal fuse with an ohm meter for continuity to see if its good or bad. Or jump it just to see if your dryer comes on just to test it. Don't run it jumped for a cycle, very dangerous.

Here's the thermal fuse for your model you can order:
Part number for that fuse is 3392519
3392519

Report back what you find.

If your thermal fuse is good, then its possibly your control board.

Here's the control board for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 8546219

the control panel seems like an expensive next step given that is $160 and the unit turns on and appears to function. is there any other trouble shoot or can that control panel be diagnosed if brought into an appliance parts place?

One last question - the thermal fuse checked out on the OHM meter - the man at the appliance parts store said that if the fused was bad, the control panel wouldn't come on - is this true?

Does the drum turn freely? If so start here: Unplug the dryer. Access the machine control electronics and measure the resistance across Pin1-3 and Pin1-4. If resistance across Pin1-3 and Pin1-4 is in the range of 1 to 6 ohms, replace the machine control electronics. Let me know what you find.
