• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hello,

Hope all is well.

My microwave is a West Bend, not a Sears.... the drop down menu did not include West Bend or Midea, who I think is the manufacturer. My apologies if this causes issues or confusion.

I have a West Bend microwave, model EM925AJW-P1, 900W. When the door is open, the light and turntable turn on, when they should be off. When the unit is started to heat something, the turntable works properly and the light turns out as expected.

I have left the door open, with light on and turntable running and attempted to heat a mug of cold water and the unit does not heat.

I “reset” the unit by unplugging and replugging in the machine with no joy.

Loose or bad door switch?

Thank you, take care and have a great weekend!

Hi,

When the door is open, the light and turntable turn on, when they should be off.

Most times:

Door switch.
Door switch mechanism.
Door switch wire.
Main pcb board.

We usually check the door switches and door mechanism first, if bad we address that. If ok the board is then the suspect.

Some switch helps and tips...
