Hey everyone,
My older house came with a Dacor double oven and has been working great for years. I also cant find the model number anywhere. Today we were using both the upper and lower ovens at the same time when the upper oven started making these sounds (PLEASE WATCH AND LISTEN TO VIDEO)... the control board was beeping with the error message and something else was making a grinding sound in the upper oven. The display read "L20 OVER TEMP" at the time. I was able to find a manual online (http://www.uncleharrywizard.com/nephewclub/wizardrange/dacor/dacor-wall-oven.pdf) and access the control board info and got all of these error codes (please see the 2 pictures). All of the error messages point towards the lower oven but it seemed to me like it was the upper oven that was the likely culprit.

In my mind I was thinking to check all of the temperature sensors for continuity. I also cant understand what that noise was from in the upper oven... fan motor issue??? Or some kind of short in the area of the light. The light was flashing and the click was coming from the area of the oven light on the wall of the oven. 1 hour later the oven was cool the light turned on normally and there was no noise.

Any advice for a guy that cant afford to replace this oven that my wife insists on fixing or replacing with the same brand (I looked it up and cant believe how much a new one costs... she's a great baker).

Thanks in advance!!!

UPDATE:
Today I tested all of the temperature sensors in both ovens.. all came back with with an Ohm reading around 1100. After powering up the unit I tried to troubleshoot each oven individually. LOWER OVEN - got up to temperature and the warning alarm sounded with Error Code "U60 Cooling Fan". I'm not sure why the upper cooling fan error came on while I was using the lower oven?? I left the LOWER oven run for a 20 minutes and it seemed to be doing fine. Went into diagnostics mode and all of the components appeared to be working well.

UPPER OVEN - tried to bake at 350 but quickly got the same error code "U60 Cooling Fan". Went into diagnostics mode and when attempting to "Inner bake" there appeared to be some subtle flashing on the display board and the inner baking didn't seem to work. The "outer bake" function worked. When testing the COOLING FAN it would NOT start at high or low speed. So at this point the UPPER COOLING FAN appears to be an issue.... BUT the main display panel has been looking a bit weird over the past couple months and we didn't think much of it until now (SEE PIC and note how some areas are brighter than others). Does this point to the MAIN CONTROL BOARD?

I'd love to not have to take the oven out of the wall but I gotta do what I gotta do. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!

I would be glad to assist you, but I've not had any training or worked on any Dacor Appliances. Hopefully another tech. that has can shed some light on this problem.

UPDATE:
I had an appliance repair man come and he thinks that the problem is either with the UPPER over relay board or the UPPER oven cooling fan. But he cant say for certain which one it is without replacing them individually which seems like costly version of trial and error. Is there a way to wire the UPPER cooling fan to the LOWER relay board to see if the fan works (if it doesn't then we can replace the fan.... otherwise replace the relay board)? I suggested that to him but he said it wasn't possible.

Any suggestions?

I just swapped the relay boards with each other to see what error message I would get. The UPPER cooling fan error message came up again so hopefully that is the issue. Gonna replace the upper cooling fan.

Ok, sounds good, let us know how it goes.

There is a switch on the relay boards designating upper and lower ovens. I failed to switch them to the correct orientation anfter swapping the boards. After adjusting them correctly was able to turn on the Upper Cooling fan... thus it is not defective. I then got the error message for the Lower Colling Fan.

I now believe that one of my relay boards is defective and I want to replace it. My current boards show a part number 72720. In the parts manual (I attached a photo) it says that the board should be replaced with a part number 101559 AND that BOTH relay boards need to be replaced to the 101559 part number. I found an old tested 72720 relay board. Does anyone have experience replacing these boards? Could I simply swap to another 72720 and it would work or do I actually have to buy 2 101559 relay boards?

Thanks!!!

That I don't know, sorry.

Hopefully someone else who has done this before can answer that question.
