Oven will heat to set temperature, but then can't hold it. I have ohm'ed out the temp sensor, reads 1080. I am having this problem with top oven only. After the oven reaches temp, the heating lights osilate indicating both the top and bottom elements are heating. Any advice? Thanks!

Hi,

How long has this been happening?

The oven sensor is fine at 1080 ohms, so that would only leave the control board as the culprit.

Here's the control board for your model you can order:

I first noticed it about a year ago, so I stopped using the oven and relied on the second oven solely. It's just now that I have time to fix it.

Can you tell me how to the follow the electrical path to the top oven so I can do some testing? I am curious why it initially heats properly but won't hold the temp. I bought a service manual from manuals.com but turn out its not for my model and is nothing more than a user manual.

Thank for the response!

Ok Larry,

Yes, those fake service manual sites are a scam, I would report them to your Attorney General's Office to have them shut down.

I'm attaching the tech. data sheet for your model below.

Installed the Control Board but it did not fix the top oven problem, but I do have a little more information. The bake element never does heat. Found this by holding my hand on the bake element when it should have been heating. While the oven did reach temperature it must have been because the broil element heated the oven. I see there is a relay board inline to the heating elements. Where is this located? Can I test for continuity on the bake element and how?

Thanks!

Hi Larry,

Yes, I keep forgetting about the high limit thermal fuse and relay board on these newer Electrolux models, as the older models never had them, everything was controlled by The clock oven control board.

Rick explains on how to check both here: EW30EW65G Electrolux Top oven won't bake or broil

Start with the high limit thermal fuse mounted on the back of the top oven. Turn the breaker off to your double oven first before pulling it out and accessing it!

Your model uses the exact same high limit thermal fuse and relay board as his model in that thread.

Seems like my situation is a little bit different. The convection and broil element work so that seems to eliminate a problem with the high limit switch, but I will check the L1 and L2 connectors. Is there any way to checkout the bake element from the relay board? Thanks!

The bake element is bad, the coil has burnt spots so there is no continuity. I got the new bake element, 318601604, but it does not fit. It's a bit thicker than the original part so there is insufficient clearance for installation. It has some flimsy installation around the edge which takes no abuse at all. How should I solve this? I don't see any additional guidance on the web so I am baffled. Larry

That's odd Larry.

Another member replaced his: https://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/threads/36656-Kenmore-Pro-30-Electric-Double-Oven-Broiler-element-would-sometimes-come-on-by-itself/page4

Read post#35 Rick explains how to remove and install the new one, maybe you missed a step? Did you remove the service panel?

Then read posts 37 and 38.

You can post and ask zborgerd in that thread I posted above.

Also read page 10 in the tech. data sheet I posted above.

Follow the steps below in order to replace the through hidden bake element on a single wall oven and the lower through hidden bake element of a double wall oven.
1. Remove the lower decorative trim (2 screws).
2. Using a pair of long nose pliers, remove the cutter pins and the screw which are holding the true hidden bake element service panel in place (under the oven liner).
3. Disconnect the two bake element wires.
4. Slide the true hidden bake service panel and element out of its operational emplacement.

--->The steps below are to follow in order to replace a double wall oven's upper true hidden bake element only.
5. Remove the center trim. You may use a flat screwdriver in order to pull the center trim out.
6. Remove the door lock assembly.
7. Follow the same steps as for the single wall oven (2-4 above).

Yep! Did all that when I took the old bake element out and tried to put the new one in. I suspect that zborgerd may have use a earlier model replacement bake element that may not have had that elevated and flimsy insulation on it. I will find a solution and let you know what I find. Thanks!

Ok, sounds good, because that's all I know to do, and if the new one came a bit different it should have instructions to install it.

There is a Q & A section where you bought it here: 318601604 Element

You can ask there.

I finally got around to installing the replacement bake element and completed the job. Turns out that I had to remove a screw from the top and bottom oven housings as well as a set screw for the lower oven door lock. Removing these items provided just enough room to slide the new bake element in place. What a hassle, but it now holds temp and works well. This is my closeout, thanks for your help!

Excellent Larry, good find on those other screws that you had to remove first.:)

Thanks for the update!
