Less than 1 year
We just got the dryer yesterday. It was new, never used. Just sat in the store for years.

Hooked it up and it went for about 10min and shut off with error code E 61. I saw that it means something about the heating relay but what do I do from here? We thought maybe we hooked it backwards and changed that but it's still doing it. It's definitely getting hot in there.

The model number is FASE7073NA3

Hi,

Sat in the store for years? New in the box still?

E61
Heater Relay failure
Heater relay stuck open or closed

That heater relay has likely closed since you are getting heat, meaning the contacts in that relay are always keeping the heater ON.

You will need a new control board, you may want to contact Frigidaire to see if your first year warranty will cover it, since its been sitting new in a box for years I don't know if they will or not, but it never hurts to try.:)

Here's the control board for your model you will need:

Yeah, just sitting there. Not in a box tho but never plugged in.

I'm going to call them and see. I hope so! If they don't, is this something I can do myself?

Yes, its something you can do yourself if you're fixed other things around your house.

Here's the instructions(Just read where it says Control Assembly - Figure 4-17:

Apparently, 2 coils were touching in there.
Two of the heating element coils were touching?

There was no arcing? Did they replace the heating element?

I'm not sure. I tried to find a picture like what he showed me but I couldn't. It was 3 coils and the middle and right one were touching. It doesn't look like the hearing coils I'm seeing online.

He said he fixed it but I don't know If that means replacing. I ran it only once because he said my duct was clogged so until I can snack it, i don't want to run it but it ran, finished the cycle, no error code.

Ok,

Here's the heating element for your model below, I do see the 3 coils.

I guess he only showed me half. Lol. One of the outside coils was distended and touching the middle coil.

So far so good. I'll know more after I run it regularly. I don't want to run it too much before snaking the duct but it did run all the way through. It's the first time I ran a load from start to finish.

I have a frigidaire affinity dryer and had heating element replace in Oct 2017 and been fine and today it started shutting off and displaying E61 code. What could be the problem

Do you have the exact same model number FASE7073NA3?

If so, read post #2 again.
