FIXED FEX831FS1 Heating Element will NOT Shut Off

I have a Frigidaire FEX831FS2 Washer/Dryer Combo. The dryer heating element does not turn off when I open the door and the drums stops. Even when I turn the timer to off the element stays on. When I turn the timer to Cool Down the element will shut off. If I move the time to anything but Cool Down the element comes back on. I replaced this element about six months ago and it worked fine until last week. I replaced the timer earlier today, but that did not change the problem.

Sounds like the heating element is shorted to ground.
