My tenants told me that all 4 burners on the stove take a long time to light (30-60 seconds). This is the case both using the stove ignition and when using a lighter. The issue has been getting worse and it affects the burners they never use. There is no smell of gas while waiting for the burner to light. Oven works fine. Any ideas?

Model Number: Not Sure

Please find out. It is important and the only way we know what appliance you're dealing with. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

There is no smell of gas while waiting for the burner to light.

I don't know how that is possible. Gas should flow as soon as the knob is turned on. There is nothing to delay it. You might want to actually confirm that.

Thanks for your reply. I can't get over to the unit until Saturday but was hoping for some ideas about what to look for. I'll certainly be able to get the model number when there in person, but the tenants weren't able to tell me. They said there is no gas smell. When I get there I will confirm that, but I wasn't sure if there was anything that could cause a delay in the gas flow. It isn't related to clogged holes or faulty ignitors since it affects all burners and the issue persists when lighting manually. Once lit, they report that the flame seems normal.

Yes and any problem with the gas flow should affect the oven as well. They're all connected to the same gas supply prior to the surface burner valves. A problem with all gas flow could be due to the range's regulator or the house gas pressure.

Get an accurate description of the symptoms and we'll try to offer suggestions.

The model number is FFGF3011LWF. Frigidaire. Probably 5-8 years old. It takes a long time for a burner to light. Doesn't matter which burner you try. Once a burner lights, even if then turned off, other burners light normally. All ignitors look fine. Same issue occurs when lighting manually. Oven lights normally. Seems like there is some issue with the initial gas flow the the burners. Once lit, flame seems fine. I thought I'd replace the regulator because I'm not sure what else could be causing it but I'm looking for any guidance. Thanks.

That's the only thing that controls gas flow to multiple burners at the same time however that includes the oven so I'd expect it to act up as well.

The only gas flow component in common with all surface burners but not the oven is the manifold pipe. It could have a slight blockage (dirt, cobweb, spider web, etc.) but such a blockage wouldn't usually be affected by use and would likely be permanent until corrected.

I'm afraid I have nothing else besides the regulator to suggest. Sorry.

Thanks. The regulator is an easy replacement and not too expensive so I'll try that and hope for the best.
