I have an FFHB2750S6 Frigidaire/Electrolux refrigerator with an ice maker. I have been trying to troubleshoot the ice maker fill tube freezing for some time. If I turn off the ice maker over night, and then turn it back on, it will make about 3-4 cycles of ice and then stop. If I repeat the cycle, it will keep doing the same thing. At one point, I noticed the fill tube was frozen at the end near the ice maker.

Today, after doing some more google research, I learned that a weeping valve maybe the issue. All the videos I watched seemed to indicate you can pull the fill tube out from the back of the unit but this doesn't seem possible/easy with this unit.

I figured I would follow the white and green lines to the actual valves. After removing the valve assembly from the unit, I removed the green/white lines from the valve and turned the water back on. The valve that the white line is going to has a constant drip. Could this be what is causing the ice maker fill tube to freeze?

The part is fairly expensive so I don't want to purchase a new one if this isn't the issue. I realize the valve should not have water coming out but am amazed that the small drip can force water all the way up the back of the fridge and into the fill tube near the ice maker.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!

If you have good water pressure from your home water supply line to the water inlet valve and its dripping, then yes its bad.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model you can order:

Here's the video that shows you:

Let us know how it goes.

So, yesterday I replaced the valve assembly, water line, and filter. Last night it made maybe 2-3 cycles of ice cubes and nothing further. Any other ideas of things I can check to try and get this thing to work?

How is the water pressure to the refrigerator from your water supply line?

First Pull your refrigerator out away from the wall, turn off your water supply line that goes to it, then take off your water supply line from the water inlet valve, then get a bucket, cup, bowl, etc to catch the water, then put your water supply line in the bucket and turn it on, your water stream should be really good with good water pressure, if not then the problem is in your plumbing water supply line.

Let us know how the water pressure is.

A very LARGE problem in the last few years has been the self piercing shut off valve clogging up with calcium and junk! Replace the self piercing shut off valve with a drill type shut off valve. You drill a 1/4" hole into the pipe and install the shut off valve the same way you would with a self piercing valve.

Thank you for your reply. I have previously checked the pressure. It actually shocked me how good the pressure was. My valve looks like this https://images.app.goo.gl/QXvBrEGbFprz5vhw9 so I don't think it is the type you referenced. I have noticed small amounts of water drops on the tray under the water line. Small enough that it could just be excess water after removing the cup as opposed to an actual bad valve. The only other thing that it could be is the water line getting kinked after pushing back the fridge. Unfortunately, it fits into a cabinet style space so I cant see after the fridge is pushed back. Today I took a bit of time and taped the water line to the back of the fridge and measured the distance so as to make sure the line is not crimped. Just turned the ice maker back on and emptied the bucket so I can see exactly how many cycles it goes through before failing. Will report back afterwards. thanks again

Ok, let us know.

If it still keeps doing the same thing, then I really don't know what else to suggest, except to have Frigidaire come out at 1-800-374-4432 and see what's going on.

I've replaced many of these same water inlet valves and it always fixed this issue for my customers.

So, as a last desperate response to a failing ice maker due to the fill tube freezing over, I purchased and replaced the fill tube. During the replacement, I also noticed that the small insulation/foam piece on top of the ice maker box, was not properly surrounding the hole for the fill tube. I was able to tape the insulation/foam in place. Also, the new fill tube had a layer of insulation around the part of the tube closest to the tray that was not on the old part. Finally, we have a functioning ice maker again.

At some point in the future, I would like to replace the insulation/foam piece that surrounds the fill tube hole on top of the fill tube hole. Can this part be purchased? If not, can I buy something at the local hardware store and just replicate it?

thank you.

You'd have to get it at your local hardware store.
