Our dryer stopped heating recently. Hoping for an easy fix I took it apart last weekend to clean the lint out of it as best I could. Put it back together but still no heat. I just took it apart even farther today and notice the red wire on the plug was melted through.

I can purchase a new power cord but what should be worried about that caused the malfunction to begin with? Is there anything else I should look at testing/purchasing to switch out?

All you need is a new 4-prong dryer cord, any hardware store will have it.

The reason that happened is when the dryer was first installed whoever installed it didn't tightened that red wire tight enough and overtime the vibration of the dryer running made it arc and burn.

So make sure you tighten all the power cord wires to the dryer terminal block good and tight and it will never happen again.:)
