Frigidaire model (FGHB2844LFG) Code SYEF comes in. Changed out fan motor and main board(2x). Fan cycles on/off rapidly for a few seconds then nothing. Code comes back in. Same thing happens when going to diagnostic mode 15. Fan tries to start a couple of times and stops. At the control board red wire has constant 12v, yellow wire has varying voltage when fan tries to start from less than 1v to 5v and no higher. Fan winds up pretty good for a msec at 5v. The blue wire voltage is the same as the yellow wire. Any suggestions?

First check for any broken or loose wire connections.

Look here:
Got home from work and pulled the replacement fan out to bench test it. When I went to connect the power supply, I noticed the blue wire terminal on the molex type plug wasn't fully seated and the connector was pushed back a bit. Pried out the rubber seal and used a small tweaker to seat the pin. Connected it back up without even bench testing and the evaporator fan came right on when I plugged the fridge back in. Put it all back together and it has been running for about 10 minutes.

I checked for loose connections , reseating everything I could. Today I wired a good fan directly to its main board connections with the same results using test mode 15, fan tries to start but doesn't stay running on low and high speed tests. I give the fan a full 12v on the bench and it runs fine.

Then it must be your getting bad boards, that's all it can be. Where ARE you getting the boards from?

Here's the main control board for your model:

Amazon. Thats the right number and it says they are new. I guess i'll try the third time with them, doesn't cost anything at this point. I agree it seems like it must be the board as everything else works fine, but the same thing wrong with 3 boards? Guess I've seen weirder things. I'll let you know in a few days. Thanks for the feedback this has been driving me crazy for days. Should have been an easy fix.

From amazon, yes!

If you order it from my link to it in post #4 it should work fine.

Just double all your wires again at the board, see if any of the metal pin connectors are bent or backed out of place in the plastic connectors that connect to the board.

Thanks Jake: I'll let you know how I make out, tried to get Amazon to send me another board as I have paid already, they referred me to Electrolux who told me its Amazon's problem who now is giving me a refund.

Ok, yes, it has to be the control board, that's all it can be at this point if your wires and good and secure.

Like I mentioned in that other thread:

Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the evaporator fan motor electrical connector and see if your getting a CONSTANT 12 Volts DC.

To volt test it: Check for 12 Volts DC to the fan between red and brown wires. If it checks ok WITH a CONSTANT 12 Volts DC and the fan motor is SPINNING UP for a second at a time, then replace the Evaporator fan motor.

If your NOT getting CONSTANT 12 Volts DC then replace the control board.
