my dishwasher stopped working and displayed the ER code.
The door switch was also broken.
i've replaced the main circuit board and door switch..
When i put it all back together the display came back on normally.
When I tried to run a test load, I entered the cycle choice and closed the door.
Then a "close door" message scrolled on the display. When i opened the door again the machine started running with the door OPEN.
I thought I may have switched the black & white wires on the door switch so I opened it back up and switched them but the same thing happened.
Now after letting my frustration diminish a couple of days, I see the ER code appearing again.
Any ideas on what I should try next are very much appreciated.

Hello to all! I am new to this forum. My dishwasher started getting Er code fault. According to the service data sheet, the Er code is Switch Failure (shorted keypad). The model of my dishwasher is FGID2466QF8A. Do I need to change the switch assembly or the main control board? Thank you so much!

As you can see in that thread, it fixed the ER error code.

Also it sounds like you got a defective door latch assembly, it shouldn't be running with the door open, you can ohm test the door latch switch to verify that.
