Greetings!
I've been reading this forum and there is an amazing wealth of quality information here. However the notes say to post a question as a new thread, so that's why I'm creating this rather than replying to another.
Problem:
I noticed a massive puddle on the ground in front of the refrigerator. Apparently (I'm assuming) a family member left the freezer door open for an unknown period of time. There was so much water that it got under the hard wood flooring and started welting the floor seams. The freezer looked like a garden hose went off inside it with frozen patches of ice adhered to the interior side walls, as well as ice cycles dripping from nearly every rack and all the items stored inside. Before this happened the ice production was working normally.
Current Observations:
I have a Kenmore Coldspot from 2001, with the ice collector in the door. I get water through the door and can engage ice delivery through the door as well. The optics appear to be working as I tested them by cycling the freezer door switch three times and watching the ice maker move in two full rotations while finally resting at 9 O'clock. The problem here is that I have to assume the optics are okay as the status LED has never worked. I can also manually fill the ice tray with water and it will produce and deliver ice to the door-bin.
Efforts:
I have cycled the interior power switch as well as removing power completely for 15 minutes. I've cleared the black rubber fill tube and there was a small amount of ice there. I've forced the ice maker into "harvest" mode to level-set the operation. So far... no ice.
I'm thinking that this might be a module as I've read in other threads, but I want to be sure you have the full picture before I attempt to repair something that isn't broken. I appreciate your time and look forward to your reply.
