have a fredrich 12000 btu ac thru wall unit .i rescued off job figured i would put in parents house as there thruwall getting tired. i installed sleeve put in chasis ran good for two days they called and said no cold air . i pulled chasis out of sleeve brought home installed new dual run capacitor took numbers off old one got exact one installed it . i went to bench run unit realized front grill not with me so i put cardboard where front grill would go. started it up everything running good cold side suction nice and cold hot side hot thermostat working nice cold air coming out seems everything is good .wrong bring chasis over parents put in sleeve start up no cold air compressor shutting off like its on thermal overload it seems to cool off restart run for a bit and shut off wont restart till thermooverload resets .the unit has been totally cleaned so thats not the issue nothing blocking any vents on sleeve outside of wall. any thought why it would work good out of sleeve but not in sleeve is compressor weak possibl and heating up when its put in sleeve im lost here.

It sounds like something is making the cold air hit the thermostat and thus shutting the unit off, other than that I have no clue.

thanks its a tough one im no appliance guru but its frustrating me .i cant understand why it works out of sleeve and runs fine no overheating of compressor nothing . in sleeve compressor seems to run no cold air then just shuts off on thrmal overload .i normally would not mess with something this old but it happened to fit good in hole that already existed in wall .

I really don't know why its doing this.
