My fridge ice maker will not make ice. The water dispenser works. If I manually put ice cubes into the ice container it will dispense the ice fine. I have a brand new filter installed.

I was thinking the water valve is the problem. However, I did try manually pouring water into the ice maker assembly and that didn't seem to make any ice either.

Any suggestions?

What I do is remove the ice maker front plastic cover, it just unsnaps off, then you will see a gear with a arrow in the direction it turns, then you turn your ice maker gear about a 1/4 turn, does it continue to rotate on its own when you let go of it?

Leave the ice maker ON when you do that and see if the gear turns by-itself.

If not, use a multimeter between the BLACK and YELLOW wires where it plugs into your electrical connector you should have 120 volts. If so, and now your ice maker won't cycle, then your ice maker is bad. And you will need to order a new ice maker.

Here's the ice maker for your model:

I'm not sure what you mean by ice maker front cover just snaps off. Do you mean this?

No, you have the metal bar up and that's off, that needs to be down, which is on.

I meant remove the plastic front cover from the front of your ice maker, in your photo, it just unsnaps off with your hand.

Yes I have it off because it isn't working. I was just trying to point at the cover. L

I'll try what you said previously. Cover is off now. Thank you sir.

I can't seem to get the gear to turn with my hand. Like it's stuck. I don't see an arrow but I tried both directions.

The tabs behind the gear make me think the large gear should go ccw?

Ok I got it now. Lol

I turned it in each direction using a screw driver. It was hard to turn kind of like of was stuck, could not do it with my fingers. I turned it 1/4 (in each direction) then when I let go it would stop and go in the reverse direction about halfway back.

Think that means the ice maker is gone?

Yes, the ice maker is bad, good find.(y)

Replace the ice maker and you should be back in business.:)

Anytime!

Let us know how it goes after you install it.

In this model , you want to reach inside where the "tines " are located (ice cubes are produced) and grab the fingers themselves and slowly pull them in a clockwise direction to force a harvest cycle, its a lot easier than using a screwdriver

It will cycle on its own once its cold enough ( 12 degrees F ) or you can force the harvest cycle manually by grabbing the inner tines and slowly rotating them clockwise

Thanks man, oddly enough I just forgot to turn it on with the wire switch lol

Water is in it now which wouldn't happen with the old one. Wait and see if it dumps once it's frozen I guess.

Sounds like your back in business.(y)

Let us know if it dumps the ice.

Excellent, glad to hear that.(y)

Thanks for the update!
