Frigidaire Fridge FGRU19F6QFD not holding temp - Freezing food

I ordered a new Control Assembly from Frigidaire. It will come in 7-10 business days. Once I install the unit I will let you know if this fixed the fridge.

Per my understanding, Control Assembly is monitoring resistance change of thermistor and disconnects the power to the compressor when the temp reaches the set point. Because the thermistor is a very simple device and can be measured per chart, I assume this is a Control Assembly failure. Wire harness I checked from the thermistor to the CA. Other than that I don't know what can be a problem.
The next step is to buy a new fridge. BTW the same fridge now costs double the price than I bought 4 years ago.

Hi Anatoly,

Did changing out the control assembly solve the problem for you?

I have same fridge and freezing problem.

Hello, I have the same issue, our veggies are constantly freezing. Upon inspection I noticed about 8 inches of the corner seal near bottom hinge is completely bunched up, torn and not sealing like it should. Water on my top shelf measures 0.4 c and food in the bottom shelf of the door near the wrecked gasket measures 7.1 c. Below the tear on the outside of the cabinet it feels very warm as this vents the heat from the compressor. Could warm air be entertaining the fridge through the faulty gasket causing havoc with the thermistor?

When our freezer door closes a vacuum is created making it hard to open the door. Does this happen on the fridge side as well?

Okay....so I took a totally new direction with this.

Turns out you can buy an extended warranty from Electrolux/Frigidaire for about CAD$130.00/year as long as the fridge is not older than 8 years. Then there is a 60 day waiting period. I did that.. 60 days later a tech came out twice and replaced the:

Evaporator
Heat exchanger
Dryer
valve access
Insulation
And a few oth small parts.

Also, pumped out the gas, vacuumed to the system and added new gas.

Turns out there was a tiny leak somewhere.

That's about CAD$600 worth of parts and labor.

Now it's operating between 0 to 5°c. Much better than before.

In my experience with most manufacturers of things, you can usually only buy an extended warranty if the item is still in it's original warranty period. That's not the case here...I wish I knew that at the start of all this!

Oh yeah! Very nice to know. Thanks Ben!

Update. Solved! I repaired the gasket on the door and the fridge seems to be performing better. No more frozen vegetables. The temps are more consistent all over the fridge. Also when the door closes the fridge immediately creates a vacuum something it hasn't done for awhile.
