Hello. First post. I did some searching but failed to find my issue, so here goes. Last week for some reason I felt compelled to buy a brand new Frigidaire gas range to replace our existing electric stove. I also purchased the GRLP4 NG to propane conversion kit. Had both the range and conversion kit installed professionally.

There is a combustion issue with the center oblong burner. When burning on HI down to about level 4, the flames don't ignite until they are about 3/4" out from the burner itself. My installer is almost positive that he tested all of them on HI. I suspect he didn't. I even took a picture later in the evening doing the same thing. But I had them all on HI for effect save for the center burner. See image 2 which shows how uneven the flame is and the video link. Image 3 is with the burner turned down to make this stop. I checked and double-checked the orifice. It's WHITE and stamped "093" which, by all accounts, is proper for this range. The burner is 10k BTU NG so should be 9.5k BTU LP, if I'm reading the instructions correctly.

After seeing the pictures, the installer seems to think too much gas is being sent through the orifice. I went down in size, from extra nozzles at his request with no change. I followed the instructions and adjusted the burner down using a small screwdriver (set it to LOW and turned it until the flames were barely on) but it still does the weird flame pattern. It even makes a roaring sound when on HI. It also exhibits this behavior whether the black metal cap is on or not. I can't see any damage or anything amiss under the burner plate itself.

Not the end of the world as we probably won't run it on HI anyway, but odd.

Here is a link to a video showing the issue. https://photos.app.goo.gl/YMhUmTJB3pyrxk6G6

Any thoughts? THX, CG

That's very strange, never seen anything like that before and I've converted many stoves in the last 35 years.

Hopefully another tech. or member that's seen and fixed this problem can shed some light or it for us.

Other than that, You can contact Frigidaire support under warranty at 1-800-374-4432 and they will locate a Frigidaire tech near you or click here: https://www.frigidaire.com/Owner-Center/Service--Repair/Certified-Frigidaire-Service--Repair/

Then the authorized Frigidaire tech. can come out to see what's going on.

Thanks for the feedback, Jake. My luck! Figured I'd try here first then contact support. I don't know zip about gas ranges, but I can't logically come up with anything either. Unless something is wrong with the actual burner plate. I'll call support if nothing turns up here or there... Chris

Ok Chris, sounds good. I would tell you how to fix it if I knew the cause.

Let us know what they find if you could please, I'm very curious myself.

UPDATE: I was just warming some crab pizza on the middle griddle burner. I took a gander at the flame pattern and it was perfect. HI, LOW, and all other settings. Never noticed before or even thought to check it while in use. Every burner flame was good. However, if I remove the pan, the flame gets wonky again. None of the other four pot burners exhibit this. So it would seem that in order for the middle oval burner to behave properly, it has to have a pan or whatever on it. As far as I know, that isn't documented anywhere. But my problem appears to have been rather simply solved. Monitoring and will report back! Thanks, Chris.
