Bought a used refrigerator yesterday. Known issue was ice maker not working. They said they replaced the module, worked for a couple of months, then stopped again. We hooked up, and 24 hours later, TINY ice chips (not even a shot glass full), knocking sounds occasionally ( ice maker calling for water??) followed by water being dispensed for about 5 seconds. Water dispenser functioning as it should when used. I know others have had some similar issues, but have not seen this model before.

When the ice maker calls for water, water is being dispensed where? In the ice maker tray or at the water dispenser itself?

I'm not sure what is happening where. I hear some noises, then 5 seconds llater
the water dispenser gives out 1/4 cup of water. i can't see inside the ice maker to see if water is being delivered there, but no ice is being made.

That's very odd, I would need to see the wiring diagram, sounds like possibly a bad water inlet valve or a bad diode, if your model uses one, and without the wiring diagram I don't know.

I can't locate the wiring diagram for this model.

I will try and locate one, but if you can't find one, not sure I'll be able to. I'll try though !
When ice maker is turned off, no water is delivered randomly.

That link wants me to login with a username and password which I don't have an account set up to do that, sorry.

I'd disconnect power to the refrigerator and check for a diode per what Rick said here:

I'm not home this weekend so unable to determine if there is a diode. My search comes up empty when looking for a diode kit for this model.

Yes, I know, for some reason they don't list the diode in the parts list, you need to actually look for it in the wire harness to the water inlet valve.
