• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

My microwave was working fine the last time I used it. When I when I went to use the next time, the panel had no lights or power. I checked my house fuse and tested the plug in outlet and they were fine. I looked at the parts list and found a thermal fuse. Before I spend $40+ I would like to know if the fuse is the problem or if there are any other fuses I should check.

Hi,

For sure check the fuses and thermostats. Fuses are more common.

Before I spend $40+ I would like to know if the fuse is the problem or if there are any other fuses I should check.
They can and should be checked for continuity before ordering anything....open or no continuity is bad, has continuity and the item is still ok.
